The Lowell, #1 Hotel in New York, Tales of the Cocktail and More
Happy Thursday, everyone! This week, EVINS has been braving the New York heat wave. Despite the city melting around us, the agency has created a great set of client events, press releases and strategic partnerships. What’s on at EVINS? Most notably, The Lowell held a cocktail celebration for being awarded the #1 Hotel in New York City by Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards for the second year in a row. More on this and other clients below…
On Friday, July 12th, EVINS had a Summer Delight Ice Cream Social and took a much needed break from the heat. The dairy free ice cream and sorbets were a hit and we had everything from cones to salted caramel sauce and sprinkles. At EVINS, we are focused on providing both a productive and fun work environment and our Accounts Team knew how hard the teams had been working after the holiday break. Departments were able to mingle and it was nice to catch up with co-workers about weekend plans and outings in the city.
Also on Friday, July 12th, Jet Linx announced a new feature in the latest update within their mobile app. An innovative flight sharing program called OpenSeat Exchange offers aircraft owners and members the ability to buy or sell empty seats on Jet Linx flights on a per-seat basis. This opens a new channel of secure and trusted peer to peer exchange and allows more control over the private jet booking experience. The app’s current features are the ability to book private jets in real-time at guaranteed hourly rates, quote future trips, arrange catering and ground transportation, make flight manifest changes, view and book empty one-way flights at below market pricing, and receive Jet Linx news and updates.
Members of our Food, Wine and Spirits team, Sean and Sam, traveled to the Tales of the Cocktail event in New Orleans this week. They have helped to organize a speakeasy-style tasting of Maker’s Mark Private Selects inclusive of samples for private select accounts from all over the country. This is the 17th year that this worldwide cocktail conference will engage trade experts in seminars, tastings, competitions and networking events surrounding the spirits industry. The event is held from July 16th- 21st. Here at the office, the Bookstore and Bitters Market sounded like a fun event and great place to pick up new ideas for creative concoctions.
On Wednesday, July 17th, the Lowell celebrated their multiple rankings in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards for the second year with an elegant cocktail reception in their Club Room. The space was filled with media, influencers and close friends and they experienced the elegant ambiance and discreet service that the hotel is know for. The signature florals and blooms of The Lowell were arranged into a picturesque flower wall and light bites were served. The hotel also received a beautiful letter from Speaker Corey Johnson and The Council of the City of New York in honor of the Lowell’s 35th Anniversary of their historic restoration. Congratulations to The Lowell!
The EVINS summer internship program is past the halfway point and we wanted to sit down with another one of our interns to get to know them better. We interviewed Kaytie Barry from the Food, Wine and Spirits team, who is interested in Journalism and PR. Read her interview down below, and as a reminder, EVINS is still accepting applications for our Fall Internship program. Interested applicants can apply here!
Kaytie Barry- Food + Wine + Spirits Intern
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?- Bartending on Long Island, laying on the beach in Fire Island or running around any city.
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose?- I’ve always wanted to be on Broadway, so probably Taylor Louderman who plays Regina George in Mean Girls.
What is an accomplishment you are most proud of?- I saved up money for years to be able to study abroad in Europe, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
What trend do you hope makes a comeback?- I am loving the mule heel trend and hope it stays (I just hate high heels) and I hope low-rise jeans never come back!
What do you like most about interning at EVINS?- I love how embedded into the team I’ve become in a few short weeks, and how helpful everyone is to one another. I’ve learned so much from everybody and admire their teamwork.
Where is your favorite place to grab a bite or a drink in New York?- Fig and Olive in Meatpacking for dinner, and Boqueria in SoHo for happy hour Sangria and Tapas.
If you could only have three apps on your smartphone, which would you pick?- Spotify (non-negotiable), the News App, and Candy Crush (I get so bored on the train).
